
Golden Eagles complete first day of USA Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. -- Miranda Holt's 1-over 73 marked the lowest score of the day for Southern Miss, which wrapped up its first day of the season at the USA Intercollegiate.
The Golden Eagles sit in 11th place, one stroke behind Arkansas State and seven from Houston Baptist, Stetson and Little Rock for the No. 7 spot.
Holt rallied from bogies on the first two holes to still finish in a tie for 29th. Julie Baker fired a one-under 35 on the front nine and went for par on Nos. 10 and 11.
Holt, Baker and Henriette Syr all tallied three birdies apiece, and Cassidy Evreniadis carded one on her first hole as a Golden Eagle following her transfer from Iowa Western CC.
Cal Baptist led the way with a 6-under 282, featuring three of the top-five finishers. USF (284) and Lamar (288) followed.
The Golden Eagles will tee off again Sunday morning for Round Two.
