Four Homers Lift Tulane over Golden Eagles Tuesday.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Luke Reynolds hit a pair of home runs in the same game for the third time this season Tuesday night but it wasn't enough as No. 13 Southern Miss fell 10-7 to Tulane at Pete Taylor Park.
The Golden Eagles (32-12) saw a nine-game hitting streak snapped as Tulane (22-24) avenged a 12-3 loss Southern Miss had inflicted at Greer Field/Turchin Stadium on March 14.
The Green Wave cranked out 13 hits against five pitchers. Half the hits went for extra bases, including four home runs and three doubles.
Tulane third baseman Kody Hoese hit a pair of solo homers, giving him five on the season. Center fielder Grant Witherspoon hit his eighth of the season and first baseman Trevor Jensen hit his fourth of the year, both two-run shots.
The Wave got two RBIs each from the second through fifth batters in the lineup.
Reynolds went 3-for-4 for Southern Miss, including his ninth and 10th home runs. He knocked in three runs and scored four times, giving him 51 runs scored on the year.
Witherspoon and Grant Mathews had three hits apiece for the Wave.
Reliever J.C. Keys (3-4) took the loss, allowing giving up Witherspoon's two-run home run and Hoese's second solo shot in a three-run fifth inning that erased the Golden Eagles' 3-2 lead.
Jensen's two-run home run in the seventh put Tulane ahead 7-3, but Reynolds' two-run homer to left-center field cut the lead back to 7-5 in the bottom of the inning.
After Southern Miss stranded a runner at third base in the eighth inning, Tulane tacked on three runs in the top of the ninth inning with two outs, including doubles by Jensen, Mathews and David Bedgood.
Reynolds led off the final frame with a solo shot and Bryant Bowen drove in his second run of the game with a one-out single to get Southern Miss back within three runs. But with two men on and one out, Tulane reliever Connor Pellerin got a strike out and flyout to end the game and pick up his second save.
The second of Tulane's three pitchers, reliever Trent Johnson (3-2), picked up the victory despite allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits. He walked one and struck out eight.
