Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Southern Miss Baseball team (32-11 overall, 16-4 league play) hosts Tulane Tuesday at 6 p.m. for its only home game of the week.
The Golden Eagles return to The Pete after a 4-0 week, including their second-straight Conference-USA series sweep after defeating Old Dominion. Southern Miss outscored ODU 20-6 in Norfolk.
Nick Sandlin continued to dazzle pitching a complete-game shutout in Friday's series opener fanning 10 Monarchs. The junior lowered his ERA to a 1.00 and has struck out 97 batters while only walking eight in 97 innings pitched this season.
The trio, Luke Reynolds, Matt Wallner and Hunter Slater, continue to lead the way with batting averages (.379, .361 and .32), hits (58, 56, 55) and RBI (43, 48, 38). Wallner's 11 home runs continue to lead the Golden Eagles list including three grand slams.
Jarod Wright gets the start for Tuesday's game against the Green Wave, just his second start of the season. Wright's appeared in 14 games for the Golden Eagles and posts a 5.47 ERA with 16 strikeouts. Tulane will throw LHP Ross Massey against the Golden Eagles who posts a 6.28 ERA coming to The Pete.
The Golden Eagles defeated the Green Wave in New Orleans earlier this season 12-3. Senior Mason Irby went 4-for-4 at the plate driving in three runs.
Southern Miss sports a nine-game win streak heading into Tuesday's game and is 20-4 at home.
