Southern Miss in 4th through First 18 in Baton Rogue

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Junior Miranda Holt and Freshman Emily Cox lead Southern Miss, tied for 4th and 16th, respectively, after the first round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. Holt fired a two-over (74) and Cox tallied a four-over (76). The Golden Eagles were 20-over (308) on the day are will start tomorrow's round in 4th.
Holt's first round ties her low round total for the year, doing so for the third time this season. The Pensacola, Fla. product marked two birdies and 12 pars on the 6,247 yard course, battling tough greens and water features. Holt and Kayla Bloor are tied for the second most pars out of the field of golfers. Cox collected nine pars and a team-high three birdies. Today's round is her third lowest single-round on the year.
Julie Baker and Nichada Satasuk both recorded seven-over (79) through the first 18 and are tied for 29th. Baker, tied with Cox, also sank a team-high three birdies. Valentina Haupt sits in 68th after gathering a 17-over (89).
Competing as an individual, Bloor logged an 11-over and is tied for 54th.
Southern Miss will begin the second round tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
