Men's Tennis begins CCB Collegiate Invitational with Strong Showing

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chung-Han Tsai and Mieszko Kwasniewski have advanced to Sunday's White Doubles Draw championship after knocking off Kentucky and Mississippi State duos.Â
The Golden Eagles as a whole went 4-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles. Kwasniewski and Tsai both had different doubles partners their last time out, in the ITA Regionals, collecting wins over Mississippi State and Auburn, respectively. The pair (also the top seed) will compete for their bracket title at 9 a.m. Sunday against Maxime Lapraille and Samuel Serrano (South Alabama).
Ronit Bisht and Jorman Reyes will also compete at 9 a.m. Sunday in their consolation bracket. They suffered a hard-fought loss, 8-7 (6) to their Ole Miss adversaries before taking down their Lipscomb opponents 8-4.
Reyes continued his blazing start to the season with a resounding win over his Kentucky opponent. Next up for him is a tilt with No. 1-seeded Edson Ortiz of Alabama, Saturday at 1 p.m.
Bisht, the No. 3 seed, now faces Frazier Rengifo (East Tennessee State) Saturday at 9 a.m. The winner moves into the next round at 12 p.m.Â
Tsai will battle No. 2 Akos Kotorman (Tulane) at 9 a.m. Saturday while Kwasniewski goes against No. 1 Nikolai Manchev (UAB) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
