HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team will hit the links one final time this fall, taking on the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, from Sunday-Monday.
This is the first Golden Eagle tournament with a 36-hole day for the season. It is also a return to the course where the squad shot a 2-under 286 in its final round of the September 2017 tourney, then the second-best mark in program history.Â
Southern Miss will send out Valentina Haupt, Cassidy Evreniadis, Henriette Syr, Emily Cox and Julie Baker to the fray. Participating teams include Florida State, Houston, Memphis, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech and UNLV.Â
Haupt, Evreniadis and Baker have competed in all four tournaments this fall. Baker has led the way with a 74.5 stroke average.
The team is coming off a solid fourth-place finish at the FIU Pat Bradley, where Haupt and Evreniadis finished fifth and seventh, respectively. Also of note for Evreniadis: each of her three FIU Pat Bradley rounds were the best of her rookie Golden Eagle season.
Live action from the par-72, 6,185-yard Kissing Tree Golf Club can be found on BirdieFire.com. Sunday's 36 holes will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, followed by Monday's final 18.Â
