HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Former Southern Miss guard Michael Ramey has signed his first professional contract to play with Mexico's Centauros de Chihuahua.
"It's a great opportunity to continue my career and showcase my game at the professional level," Ramey said. "I'm looking forward to the experience of living in a foreign country and adjusting to their culture. I'm excited to be a part of the Centauros organization."
Ramey, a native of Indianapolis, started 27 of his 60 games played with the Golden Eagles from 2015-17. His best moment was breaking out for six consecutive three-pointers in a 76-54 win at North Texas last February, which helped Southern Miss clinch its first C-USA Tournament appearance in three seasons. It was the first time a Golden Eagle accomplished such a feat since Neil Watson in 2013 versus East Carolina.
Ramey ultimately made 79 triples over his two years with the program after transferring from Miami-Dade CC.
Ramey joins fellow classmates Quinton Campbell (Argentina) and Raheem Watts (Greece) to have signed pro contracts following their time in the Black and Gold.
