General
* Captains -- 8 JonTe Demby, 15 Allenzae Staggers, 27 Kevin Williams, Jr.
* Southern Miss won the toss and deferred to the second half. The Golden Eagles defended the South goal.
* Southern Miss improved to 4-1 in the series against ULM, as this was the first ever game in the set played in Monroe. This was the first meeting between the two schools since 1993.
* The Golden Eagles snapped a four-game losing streak at opponent's home fields.
* In his second season with the Golden Eagles, Jay Hopson improved to 9-7 at the school and 41-34 overall in his sixth season as a head coach.
Offensive Notes
* For the first time this season, the Golden Eagles scored on their opening drive, capped by 15-yard scoring pass from Kwadra Griggs to Korey Robertson. Robertson and Griggs connected for two TD connections with the other on coming from 20 yards late in the second quarter.
* Griggs threw for a season-high 250 yards as well as his best of three TD passes.
* Robertson, who had three touchdown catches in each of his last two seasons, now has a season-best four touchdown catches after registering two TD games against both Kentucky and ULM.
* Ito Smith recorded his first 200-yard rushing contest, finishing with a career-best 219 yards on 27 carries, marking the first 200-yard rushing game for Southern Miss since Jalen Richard tallied 230 on 27 carries against Texas State on Sept. 19, 2015. Smith's rushing total is the third-highest ever total by a Golden Eagle senior.
* Ito Smith registered his 31st career rushing touchdown in the third quarter on a 27-yard run out of the wildcat. The TD run moved him into fourth place by himself on the career touchdown list, as he passed both Derrick Nix (1998-2000, 02) and Ben Garry (1974-77).
* It was also his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season and 17th of his career, which tied him with Ben Garry (1974-77) for second on the school chart.
* The team put together a season-high 534 total offensive yards.
Defensive Notes
* The Golden Eagle defense held ULM to a goal line stand in the second quarter, forcing the Warhawks to a 19-yard field goal.
* It was the third-straight game that the defense held its opponent to under 20 points (UK scored a touchdown off a fumble in that contest.)
* The defense limited the Warhawks to 3-of-16 on third down conversions.
* Kelsey Douglas registered a season-best seven tackles.
* While the defense gave up a season-high 330 yards of total offense, they limited ULM to 112 passing yards on 11-of-27 attempts.
Special Team Notes
*Parker Shaunfield extended his consecutive extra point string to 74 after hitting four in the contest.
* Briggs Bourgeois registered four of five touchbacks on kickoffs.
* Tyler Barnes recovered his first career fumble on a Southern Miss punt late in the third quarter.
