BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southern Miss Women's Basketball team (21-9, 13-5) will face Old Dominion (17-13, 11-7) in the quarterfinal of the Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship, presented by MetroPCS.
The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Monarchs, 84-69, in the Jan. 12 meeting between the two universities.
"We've got to bring a high level of intensity and control the boards to defeat Old Dominion," said Coach Joye Lee-McNelis. "They're very good on the glass and we have to limit their second chance opportunities, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Jennie Simms is extremely talented. In their first round game against UTEP, she just took over the game. We've got to buckle down and limit her touches. She can't have her way with us. We'll have to throw different people at her to limit her chances."
Simms, C-USA's Player of the Year, will face C-USA's Defensive Player of the Year, Brittanny Dinkins, in Bartow Arena at 9 p.m. CT. The game can be streamed live on Campus Insiders and Live Stats can be found here.
There will be a pep rally at The Wynfrey Hotel (1000 Riverchase Galleria, Hoover, Ala. 35244) starting at 6:45 p.m. CT. Thirty minutes before tip, Lady Eagle fans can also hear Josh West on the radio broadcast for the game on WFOR 1400 AM.
