Men's Golf Heads to Louisiana Classics

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team returns to action for its second event of the spring season at the 31st annual Louisiana Classics on Monday and Tuesday in Lafayette, La.
Hosted by University of Louisiana-Lafayette, the event will take place at par 72, 6,898 yard Oakbourne Country Club.
The starting lineup includes senior Ryan Argotsinger (Lee's Summit, Mo.), who just notched another Top 15th finish with a one-under total at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate last weekend. The starting five also features junior Matt Codd (Red Deer, Alberta), sophomore Willie Hammond (Southlake, Texas), as well as freshmen Walker Kesterson (Hartsburg, Mo.) and Matt Lorenz (Gulf Shores, Ala.). Sophomore Derick Kelting (Amarillo, Texas) will be competing in the event as an individual.
The University of Illinois won the event last year with a minus-15 finish, and a one stroke victory over Kansas. The Golden Eagles look to improve upon an 11th place finish from a season ago.
The teams participating in the event include Illinois, Kent State, Louisiana, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Missouri- Kansas City, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Illinois, Texas A&M, Texas State, Toledo, UT Arlington, and UTSA.
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:00 AM.
