Southern Miss Defense Key to Bout with North Texas

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss Women's Basketball team (19-9, 11-5) opens Reed Green Coliseum on Saturday Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. to the Mean Green of North Texas (11-15, 8-7).
The Lady Eagles lost the season's previous meeting in Denton, Texas on Jan. 19 by a score of 75-62. Just like in the Rice rematch, coach Joye Lee-McNelis is looking for a defensive improvement from the team.
"Points off of turnovers has got to be the key," McNelis said. "Our defense has to generate our offence. We've got to build on our situation from last night and build on playing with a high level of defensive intensity. We've got better and better all year and now everybody is understanding and visualizing how important it is."
