HATTIESBURG, Miss. - All this spring, Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry and ADP President Chad Newell have encouraged businesses to purchase tickets for the upcoming baseball season at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
That initiative begins for this season, Friday, when the Golden Eagles open the campaign at home against Northeastern in a 4 p.m., contest.
The two entities have come up together to urge businesses to let their employees leave a lit bit early on Friday to come watch the season-opening game. They even have drafted an excuse letter to hand to their employers as well.
"Let's play ball!," said Newell, who will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch prior to Friday's game. "Southern Miss is poised to once again contend for a C-USA Baseball Championship! We're pleased to be partnering with the Golden Eagles for opening day at The Pete. We're encouraging all of our ADP member businesses to purchase tickets and let their employees leave early to make the 4 p.m., game this Friday, February 17."
Berry echoed Newell's sentiments.
"We are excited about the season getting started," said Berry. "It is our hope that area businesses will participate as we get our 2017 campaign underway."
Tickets for the season opener, as well as season tickets, can be purchased by going on at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office weekdays from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m. The Pete Taylor Park Box Office also opens two hours prior to each scheduled home game.
