
Golden Eagles Have Strong Start at Home Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's tennis team hosted day one of the two-day Southern Miss Invitational Friday by earning seven wins.
The tournament features four teams including the Golden Eagles, UAB, South Alabama and New Orleans.
The Golden Eagles battled the Privateers in the first singles round of the day. Wen-Po Tseng and Chao-Yu Huang earned the first two wins of the day with their 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-2 respective wins.
Jorman Reyes struggled in the first set against Federico Bascarino falling 6-0 but played hard in the second set falling just short in a 7-6 loss.
Teeradon Tortrakul and Rakshit Rishi finished the dual match with a win each. Tortrakul won his match 7-5,6-1 while Rishi came back to win his match after losing the first set 7-5. Rishi finished the last two sets 7-6, 6-4.
Reyes finished his day strong against the Jaguars and won both sets 7-6. Rishi picked up his second win of the day after a 6-4, 6-0 match. The Jaguars won the dual match against the Golden Eagles 4-2.
The Golden Eagles doubles teams battled hard and recorded one win from the three matches. Rishi and Mikhail Esipov beat the Blazers 6-2 to end day one of the invitational.
Singles play starts day two off tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Doubles action will resume at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
