Men's Tennis Surat Named Athlete of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- For the second consecutive week, a Southern Miss men's tennis player was named Conference USA Athlete of the Week with Tarun Surat earning his first weekly award.

Surat turned in a productive weekend going undefeated and posting a 2-0 record in singles at No. 1 and winning a doubles match. The India native defeated Josh Sheehy of Abilene Christian in straight sets and followed with a straight-set win over Jackson State's Frederico Buscarino. He teamed with Daniel Merker to win at No. 1 doubles and the duo was leading in the JSU match before the Golden Eagles clinched the point.
