Q&A with Baseball Junior Dylan Burdeaux

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- With the 2016 season just around the corner, Golden Eagle fans have the opportunity to get to know junior Dylan Burdeaux. He is a West Monroe, La. native who is a two-year letterwinner for the Southern Miss baseball team.
What brought you to Southern Miss?
Knowing I would be walking into a program with a reputation of winning, a clubhouse with a family type atmosphere, and being able to play in front of a fan base that is passionate about the sport.
What is your favorite home cooked meal?
Deer steak
During your career as an athlete, do you consider one person as your mentor, maybe a coach?
My dad has always known the right thing to say to me through my career, whether it be in accomplishments or failures.
What drives you as an athlete?
The fear of losing.
What type of player do you consider yourself to be?
Matured. Two years of playing at this level has helped me grow as a player.
How has Southern Miss impacted your life since you started here?
Being at Southern Miss has brought me some of the best friends I will have, a good education, and a great experience playing in front of an awesome fan base.
Favorite thing to do outside of athletics?
Watch football
How did you manage to get into your sport?
I have played it since I was young, and I have always loved being around the game.
Biggest difference between High School and Collegiate Athletics?
The speed of the game, also the magnitude of each game
Where did you get the passion for your sport?
Growing up around my older brother. I always wanted to play with him and his friends so it drove me to get better.
You walk into a convenience store and can only buy one item, what is it?
Purple bag of Skittles
Where would you want to go on a vacation if money was no option?
British Virgin Islands

What was the most adventurous thing you have done in the past year?
I had the chance to live with a host family in Rhode Island this past summer while playing in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
If you could choose a super power, what would it be? Why?
Flying. You could get to places much more efficiently.
The Southern Miss baseball team begins the 2016 campaign at The Pete on Friday, Feb. 19 as the Golden Eagles host Eastern Illinois in a three-game weekend series.
