Men's Tennis Team Drops Match to Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southern Miss men's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to Samford Saturday at the Samford Tennis Complex.
The Golden Eagles dropped to 5-3 overall while Samford improved to 3-2.
The Bulldogs claimed the first point of the match winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Tarun Surat and Daniel Merker were leading 5-3 when the match was called.
Samford kept the momentum into the singles competition. The Bulldogs earned points at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 1 singles in clinching the win against the Golden Eagles.
Wen-Po Tseng lost to Trey Carter on court 2, 6-2, 6-4 while Chao-Yu Huang dropped his match to Justin Ghavami, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3. Fares Kilani (SU) defeated Surat at No. 1 to clinch the win.
Southern Miss returns to action on Feb. 18 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. at the USM Tennis Courts.
