HATTIESBURG, Miss. â€" The Lady Eagles begin their Conference USA play with a match up against Louisiana Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 30. Southern Miss' 8-4 non-conference record is its best since going 9-3 in 2014-2015 season.
Head coach Joy Lee-McNelis said that the team's non-conference contests, which included games against a top five and top 25 ranked team, has prepared them for the continuously demanding C-USA schedule.
Brittanny Dinkins leads the Lady Eagles in scoring while averaging 15.9 points per game. Dinkins is followed by Jayla King's 12 points per game. King also leads the team in rebounds at 7.8 per game.
In every contest of the season the Lady Eagles have grabbed at least 30 rebounds, forced at least 10 turnovers and scored 50 points.
USM's 23.58 turnovers forced per game is good enough for ninth best in the country. Senior Brittanny Dinkins leads the charge by averaging at least 3.5 steals a game, 12 most in the nation and seventh in the nation for her 42 total steals.
