HOUSTON, Texas. â€" The Southern Miss soccer team's quest for its first Conference USA win came up short, Saunday as they fell 1-0 to Rice at Holloway Field.
The Golden Eagles dropped to 5-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play after its close loss to the Owls. Despite Lyndsey Lee's early shot on goal in the 2nd minute, the Owls outshot the Golden Eagles 7-4 in the first half. Lee and Breann Hedin each lead the team with two shots each.
