Casey Fernandez Named Second Team All-Conference USA

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss men's golfer Casey Fernandez was named Second Team All-Conference USA, the conference office announced Wednesday morning.
He is the first Golden Eagle to earn All-Conference honors since 2011.
The senior led the team with a stroke average of 72.72 this year, the third lowest season stroke average in school history. He is just the second Golden Eagle with three victories in a season, having won the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, the Samford Intercollegiate and the Old Waverly Collegiate Classic. He also became just the sixth golfer in school history to have five top five finishes in a season.
At the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, the McAlester, Okla., native fired a final round 65, the second lowest round in school history, while becoming the first golfer in Southern Miss history to close a tournament with a sub-200 54-hole score (199). Fernandez finished his career by becoming just the second Southern Miss golfer to earn runner-up honors at the Conference USA Tournament.
