Women's Golf Heads to UC Spring Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team continues its spring season this week when it travels to Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla., for the UC Spring Invitational. The tournament, which will be Mar. 20-22, will be hosted by Cincinnati and played at the par-72, 6,225-yard Los Colinas Golf Course.
This will be the Lady Eagles' second straight appearance in the tournament. Last year, they tied for eighth-place.
Joining Southern Miss in the tournament are Bradley, Cincinnati, Central Arkansas, Florida Atlantic, Florida Southern, Illinois State, Jacksonville, Memphis, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Rutgers, Seminole State, Seton Hall, UAB, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Winthrop.
Teeing off in the No. 1 position is sophomore Devon Spriddle. The Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada native leads the team with an average of 75.38 strokes per round. She has five consecutive top-20 finishes, including a seventh-place finish in her last tournament, the Lady Eagle Invitational.
Sophomore Emily Ross will tee off in the No. 2 position. The Diamondhead, Miss., native is averaging 80.67 strokes per round and is coming off a career-best tie for 14th-place at the Lady Eagle Invitational.
Juniors Jennifer Nguyen and MacKenzie Kelly will be in the third and fourth positions, respectively. Nguyen is second on the team, averaging 79.62 strokes while Kelly is averaging 84.56.
Freshman Belen Abrile will tee off in the No. 5 position. The Cordoba, Argentina native is averaging 80.92 strokes per round this year.
Play begins at 6:30 a.m. CT, with the Lady Eagles teeing off at 7:10 a.m. CT.
