HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team returns to the road to play the fourth of its current eight-game road swing Tuesday afternoon at ULM in a 4 p.m., start.
The game time has been adjusted from its original 6 p.m., first pitch at Warhawk Field due to expected cold weather in the area.
The Golden Eagles (3-3-1) look to snap a streak that includes three one-run losses and a tie game, which took place in the final contest of the COX Diamond Invitational against Nicholls.
Southern Miss got three quality starts from its pitching staff as the trio of Christian Talley, Cody Carroll and James McMahon combined for a 1.48 earned run average in 23 innings of work with 20 strikeouts and just five walks in Pensacola.
The offense, though, managed just four runs and the team committed eight errors in the three games in Florida.
The team now looks to start a new winning streak against the Warhawks, who are 3-3 this season which includes winning two of three from Stephen. F. Austin over the weekend.
Southern Miss and the Warhawks (3-3) have met 64 times in its baseball histories with the Golden Eagles owning a 46-18 record. Scott Berry's club collected a 14-2 decision in Monroe and an 18-2 victory over the Warhawks in Hattiesburg.
Following the ULM contest, the Golden Eagles continue on the road this weekend when they travel to Troy for a three-game set. The series starts at Riddle-Pace Field at 6 p.m., on Friday, followed by 1 p.m., single contests on both Saturday and Sunday.
