Getting to Know ... Katie Dozier

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The countdown continues for the season-opener, leading to the Nov. 13 date for the Lady Eagles against Alabama State in the Preseason WNIT as a Lady Eagle player will be featured.
The countdown has reached 12 as sophomore guard Katie Dozier will be featured.
Dozier adds depth to the backcourt. She has an excellent shooter with range. She has worked hard during the off-season to improve her overall game and strength. Dozier has put together some outstanding accomplishments during her short stay at Southern Miss.
Last season, Dozier was named the University's Most Outstanding Freshman Female. She was also named the Outstanding Scholar Athlete Freshman. She received C-USA Academic Medal and was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Dozier saw action in limited games last season, playing in only six contests. She scored six points on 2-of-2 from behind the arc against Nicholls and played 12 minutes in the season-opener against William Carey also scoring six points.
Prior to coming to Southern Miss, Dozier was a four-year letterwinner at Walton High School for Coach Karen Duncan. She averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. She was named to the All-Star Team and earned all-area and all-region honors. She served as team's captain. She received the Scholar-Athlete Award with a 4.01 GPA. She holds the school record for most three-three pointers in a single game. She is the daughter of Jim and Ann Dozier. She is an international business major.
