HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team made its annual visit to The DuBard School for Language Disorders Wednesday morning.
During the visit, coach Scott Berry and his Golden Eagle squad visited each classroom to interact with each of the students and find out what they were working on in school.
After the classroom visits, the students and baseball team assembled in the lunch room for a pep rally, and Berry explained tot he group that his team, along with being baseball players, were students also and had to work on their academics too and not just play baseball. He encouraged the youngsters to continue to work hard in their school endeavors.
Junior Tim Lynch (Jupiter, Fla.) followed Berry and reiterated his message as well as adding his own challenge to find something that they enjoy in their schoolwork so that they can develop a passion for something that drives them in not only their learning, but in their lives as well.
The pep rally ended with a gift given to Coach Berry from the DuBard School staff and students, before the children formed a tunnel to usher the baseball out of the room to end the pep rally.
