HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Over 150 former Southern Miss women's basketball players, coaches and their family members returned to the Southern Miss campus last Saturday as the program celebrated its modern basketball 40th anniversary. The celebration was held in conjunction with the Lady Eagles' Conference USA home game against UTEP.
The day began with a luncheon in the M-Club Room as former players and coaches spent time sharing stories and catching up with one another. The festivities then shifted to Reed Green Coliseum where several of the Lady Eagles partook in a spirited Legends Game as the ladies relished the opportunity to wear the Black and Gold again.
During the Women's Basketball game against UTEP, all those in attendance for the 40th Anniversary were recognized as part of a special halftime presentation. Following the game, the celebration concluded with a dinner reception in the Richard Giannini Touchdown Terrace. A roundtable discussion was held during this time as former players and coaches shared stories from their time with the program and imparted bits of wisdom for the current Lady Eagles.
