Fernandez Leads Sam Hall Intercollegiate Heading into Final Round

HATTIEBURG, Miss. - Senior Casey Fernandez holds a one-shot lead heading into the final round of the 12th annual Sam Hall Intercollegiate. The Sam Hall is being played at the par-71, 6,902-yard Hattiesburg Country Club.
Fernandez opened with 68 before firing a career-best 66. His 36-hole score of 134 is the second lowest in school history. He now has 21 career rounds of par or better and six career rounds in the 60's. His eight-under par is one shot in front of Southeastern Louisiana's Eamon Bradley.
The Golden Eagles are three-under par in second-place, four shots behind Southeastern Louisiana. The Golden Eagles shot rounds of 284 and 281. The 36-hole score of 565 ties the sixth-lowest in school history.
"I'm really proud of our guys for fighting really hard today," said head coach Jerry Weeks. "It was an awfully long and hot day. We had some young guys who played for us for the first time and they really stepped up today and we're looking forward to what happens tomorrow."
Sophomore Ryan Argotsinger and freshman Vasili Kartos are tied for 16th-place at even-par. Argotsinger shot a 70-72, while Kartos carded a 72-70. Both recorded their first career round of par or better.
Junior Hayes Weathersby is tied for 46th-place at five-over par after posting rounds of 74-73/147. Senior Drew Kirby posted rounds of 76-73/149 to sit in a 58th-place tie and junior Kevin Jorden, playing as an individual, is tied for 79th-place at 13-over par after shooting 73-82/155.
