Getting to Know Markia Nix

Senior Markia Nix (Moss Point, Miss.) took a few minutes out her busy day to share some tidbits about herself with the Athletic Media Relations Office. Nix is one of four seniors on the Lady Eagle basketball team. Last season, Nix played in all 34 games and started 24 contests. She finished the season averaging 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds.
AMR: Since your arrival, what has been your most memorable moment here at Southern Miss?
Answer: Our win over UTEP to send us into the C-USA Championship game.
AMR: What do you like to do for fun outside of your sport?
Answer: Shop, shop, and shop
AMR: What is your major? Why?
Answer: Exercise science. I want a profession in a rehab facility as a physical therapist.
AMR: If you didn't come to Southern Miss, where would you be?
Answer: Louisiana Tech or University of Mobile
AMR: Describe your most embarrassing athletic moment.
Answer: Giving the ball to the other team in a game
AMR: What other sport would like to compete in other than your current sport?
Answer: Volleyball
AMR: If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
Answer: I would not allow charges
AMR: How would you give away $50,000?
Answer: I would give it to a center for breast cancer
AMR: What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
Answer: Named as an all-state JUCO player in Mississippi in 2013
AMR: What are your plans after graduation?
Answer: To begin work in my career field.
