Men's Golf Takes Fifth-Place at Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

Choudrant, La. - The Southern Miss men's golf team finished in fifth-place at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, hosted by Louisiana Tech and played at the par-72, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Country Club.
The Golden Eagles shot a final round 292 to finish eight-over par.
Freshman Vasili Kartos carded a final round 74 to finish two-over par in a tie for 14th-place, earning his first career top-20 finish.
Senior Drew Kirby and sophomore Ryan Argotsinger tied for 16th-place at three-over par. Kirby shot a 75 while Argotsinger posted a 74. It is Kirby's third straight top-20 finish and fifth of his career, while Argotsinger now has three top-20 finishes on the year.
Senior Casey Fernandez is five-over par after carding rounds of 74-75/149, tied for 30th-place and junior Hayes Weathersby is tied for 43rd-place at nine-over par after posting rounds of 75-78/153.
North Texas won the tournament at 24-under par, 13 shots in front of Stephen F. Austin.
UNT's Juan Munoz earned medalist honors, defeating Louisiana Tech's Victor Lange in a playoff.
Southern Miss returns to the links this weekend when it travels to College Grove, Tenn., for The Grove Intercollegiate, Oct. 26-28.
