Men's Golf to Participate in Jim Rivers Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team will attempt to defend its championship at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, hosted by Louisiana Tech. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.
The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday. Southern Miss has won the tournament two of the past three years.
Southern Miss will be joined in the tournament by Conference USA rivals Louisiana Tech and North Texas. Also participating are UALR, Central Arkansas, Louisiana-Monroe, Missouri State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, and Stephen F. Austin.
The Golden Eagles have finished in the top-three in two of their three tournaments this year.
Senior Casey Fernandez, who leads the team with a stroke average of 71.44, will tee off in the No. 1 position. He has two top-five finishes on the year, including a fifth-place finish at the David Toms Intercollegiate two weeks ago.
Senior Drew Kirby will tee off in the No. 2 position. He has a stroke average of 73.56 on the year and two top-20 finishes, including 20th-place at the David Toms Intercollegiate.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Argotsinger is teeing off in the No. 3 position. He is third on the team with an average of 74.67 strokes.
Junior Hayes Weathersby is teeing off in the No. 4 position, averaging 75.89 strokes. In the No. 5 position is freshman Vasili Kartos, who is averaging 76.44 strokes.
