Men's Golf Finishes in 12th-Place at Louisiana Classics

Lafayette, La. - The Southern Miss men's golf team finished in 12th-place at the 28th annual Louisiana Classics, played at the par-72, 6,898-yard Oakbourne Country Club.
The Golden Eagles closed with a round of 298 to finish 47-over par.
Freshman Michael Perez led Southern Miss with a career-best 35th-place finish at eight-over par. He shot a final round 72. It is his second career round of par or better.
Sophomore Casey Fernandez was 13-over par, tied for 52nd-place after shooting a 74. Junior Zach Estep tied for 57th-place at 14-over par after shooting a 79.
Junior Kevin Brady shot a 76 to finish in a tie for 64th-place at 16-over par. Junior Jared Smith finished 21-over par, tied for 75th-place after shooting 76. Junior Trent Hillis, playing as an individual, finished in 82nd-place at 31-over par after carding a 78.
Illinois won the team competition at two-over par. LSU finished eight shots back in second-place.
LSU's Zach Wright leads the individual competition at seven-under par. Houston's Curtis Reed took home second-place at four-under par and Alex Gutesha of Kansas was three-under to finish third.
Southern Miss returns to the links next week when it travels to Ruston, La., for the Argent Financial Classic, Mar. 11-12.
