HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team travels to Orlando, Fla., for a game against UCF on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).

Southern Miss Preview
Southern Miss (9-7, 1-2) is coming off a 79-69 loss to SMU on Thursday night. Jamierra Faulkner led the way with a game-high 24 points while Nitesha Pierce scored a season-high 17 points and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. Ance Celmina chipped in 11 points.
Faulkner leads a trio of players in double figure scoring with 16.8 points per game followed by Tanecka Carey with 15.9 points and Clemons at 10.9 points. Clemons also paces the team in rebounds, averaging 7.2 per game.
Southern Miss is averaging 62.9 points and 39.5 rebounds while shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 62.9 percent from the line. The Lady Eagle defense allows 62.4 points on 38.9 percent shooting from the field. The team is forcing its opponents into 21.1 turnovers per game while coming up with 10.5 steals per game.
Scouting UCF
UCF brings a 6-10 overall record and 0-2 in league play following a 69-54 loss at SMU on Jan. 13. Gevenia Carter scored a game-high 19 points and Erika Jones chipped in 10 points. Stephanie Taylor grabbed a team-best eight rebounds
Briahanna Jackson leads the team in scoring with 14.4 points per game while Carter is next at 13.4. Erika Jones paces the team in rebounding with 6.6 boards per game.
The Knights are averaging 57.4 points and 36.5 rebounds per game while shooting 33.9 percent from the field and 66.8 percent from the line.
Southern Miss vs. UCF Series Notes
This will be the 23rd meeting between the two teams dating back to 1980. Southern Miss leads the overall series 13-8 against UCF. The Lady Eagles won the first 12 meetings between the two teams. UCF has won seven of the last eight meetings as Southern Miss snapped a seven-game losing streak with a win in the Conference USA Tournament last season.

Following the UCF game, Southern Miss remains on the road, traveling to Houston on Jan. 24. Tip-time is set for 7 p.m.
