HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team will hold its 2nd annual Military Appreciation/First Responders Day this Saturday as part of its noon Conference USA game against Memphis at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
There will be free admission for all military and first responders with proper ID for Saturday's game. For the Friday and Sunday games, tickets are $3 for those individuals and their families with proper ID and that discounted price is good for their family members for Saturday's game.
Before Saturday's first pitch, both military and first responders will be honored on the field in a pregame ceremony with area Girl Scouts presenting the colors and six local VFW members with military service flags in the infield during the nation anthem.
In addition, the Golden Eagles will be wearing camouflage hats that day as well as patriotic music being played all weekend.
There also will be a free cookout for military personnel and first responders down in The Right Field Roost that day and those individuals will be able to get a free drink from the concessions stand.
Prior to the game, there will be several types of first responder vehicles featured in the Payne Center parking lot.
