HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Following a 12 day layoff due to the spring break, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles returned to the Joe P. Park Practice Facility for their third practice of the spring season.
The break was noticeable but the squad still left Head Coach Ellis Johnson impressed with their performance.
"We had a little spring break-itis out there," said Johnson. "But, it was another good practice overall. We got a lot done even though we tried not to install too much new stuff. For the most part, it continues to go well."
Southern Miss, which will culminate their spring practices with the annual Spring Game as a part of Eagle Fest 2012 on April 14, will don the pads for the first time under Johnson at their next practice on Wednesday.
"I'm anxious to see how they look Wednesday when we get them in full pads," Johnson added. "We'll see what kind of energy level they are at and what kind of attitude. We'll probably have some full speed drills and try to create a little bit of some scrimmage situations."
