Lady Eagles Host UAB on Senior Day

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss concludes its four-game homestand when the Lady Eagles host UAB on Senior Day on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Lady Eagle contest can be heard on WHXB-FM 96.5 or at www.SouthernMiss.com with Josh West, voice of the Lady Eagles, providing the play-by-play action and legendary head coach Kay James as his color analyst.
The lone senior Ewa Urbanowska will be honored on a post-game ceremony.
Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles are coming off a 63-55 victory over Marshall on Thursday. Junior Sedreka Plummer turned in a season-best performance as she just missed a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Tanecka Carey tallied 18 points while Jamierra Faulkner handed out nine assists. Nitesha Pierce also grabbed nine rebounds for the Black and Gold. The Lady Eagles had a 19-3 edge in second chance points against the Herd and finished the game with 18 turnovers.
Faulkner leads the team in scoring with a 16.3 point per game average with Tanecka Carey right behind at 15.7. Carey also leads the team in rebounding at 6.0 boards per game. As a team, USM is shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 62.8 percent from the line while averaging 60.7 points and 37.1 rebounds per outing.
Scouting UAB
UAB is coming off a 71-56 loss at Memphis on Thursday night. The Blazers are 18-8 overall and 9-5 in league play. LaShaunda Pratt led the Blazers in scoring with 16 points while Karisma Chapman added 14 points. TaRonda Randall led the team with eight rebounds.
UAB has a trio of players averaging in double figures led by Amber Jones with 13.4 points per outing. Chapman is next at 13.2 points followed by Pratt at 11.1. Meagan Brown is the top rebounder as she is averaging 6.2 rebounds per outing. As a team, the UAB offense is averaging 55.0 points per game while shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 63.2 percent from the line. The Blazers are averaging 37.5 rebounds per contest. Coach Audra Smith is in her eighth season at UAB.
Series Notes: Southern Miss vs. UAB This is the 52nd meeting between the two teams in a series that began in 1979 with UAB winning that matchup in Birmingham. The teams split the series last season with each winning at home. UAB won the meeting earlier this season.
