Lady Eagle Basketball Hosts Houston

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss (6-8, 0-1) opens its home portion of its conference slate hosting Houston in a 2 p.m., tipoff on Sunday. The game has been designated as $1 Day, admission $1, $1 hot dogs, $1 drinks, $1 popcorn.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles are coming off a 68-57 loss at Tulsa in opening thier conference schedule. Nitesha Pierce recorded her second double-double with a game-high 22 points to go with 10 rebounds. Tanecak Carey and Jamierra Faulkner added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Carey to leads the team in scoring and rebounding at 18.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game with Faulkner is next at 15.8 points per contest. Nitesha Pierce is next in rebounding at 6.1 rebounds per outing. As a team, USM is shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 62.8 percent from the line while averaging 64.9 points and 38.7 rebounds per outing.
Houston Preview
Houston is coming off a 65-41 loss to Marshall in its conference opener on Thursday. Houston is 1-12 overall and 0-1 in league play. Roxana Button scored a game-high 22 points for the Cougars. Houston finished the game shooting 24.6 percent from the field.
Button leads the team in scoring with 19.6 points per game while Terran Alford is averaging a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game. As a team, Houston is averaging 54.8 points and 38.5 rebounds while shooting 32.0 percent from the field and 63.5 percent from the line. Head Coach Todd Buchanan is in his second season at Houston.
