Baseball Chosen No. 29 in NCBWA Preseason Poll

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss baseball team will start its 2012 season ranked No. 29 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Poll, released Friday by the organization.The Golden Eagles, which finished No. 30 in the poll last year on the strength of a 39-19 record as well as its ninth consecutive NCAA appearance, open the campaign Feb. 17, at home against Nicholls State. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m., at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The poll lists Florida at No.1 to start the campaign and five schools, including Rice (No. 8), LSU (No. 12), UCF (No. 28), Ole Miss (No. 30) and Mississippi State (No. 34) are on the Golden Eagles' schedule this season.
