Women's Basketball Team Travels to UCF

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss women's basketball team (6-10, 0-3) is looking for its first road win as the Lady Eagles travel to UCF for a Sunday matchup in Conference USA play at 1 p.m. (CT).

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles are coming off a 55-44 loss at Marshall last Wednesday. Jamierra Faulkner led the way for Southern Miss with 16 points and seven assists while Tanecka Carey added her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Carey continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding at 17.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game with Faulkner is next at 15.6 points per contest. As a team, USM is shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 63.2 percent from the line while averaging 62.6 points and 38.9 rebounds per outing.
A Look at UCF
UCF is coming off a 61-54 road loss at UAB on Thursday. UCF enters the contest with a 6-9 overall record and 1-2 in C-USA play. Aisha Patrick led UCF with 18 points while Kayli Keough added 12 and Erika Jones hauled in a game-high 13 rebounds.
Patrick leads the team in scoring with a 15.2 per game average. Gevenia Carter is averaging just under 10 points per game (9.9). Jones is the top rebounder averaging 9.9 boards per game while Patrick is next at 8.6. As a team, the Knights are shooting 36.7 percent from the field and 61.9 percent from the line while averaging 54.6 points and 42.5 rebounds per contest. Coach Joi Williams is in her fifth season at UCF.
Series Notes:
Southern Miss won the first 12 meetings between the two teams that started in 1980. UCF has won the last five meetings.

Following the UCF game, Southern Miss returns home to host Memphis on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.
