Zach Estep Earns Sixth-Place Finish at Sam Hall Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Sophomore men's golfer had his best finish in his career, as he closed the Sam Hall Intercollegiate with a 69 to tie for sixth-place. The tournament was played at Hattiesburg Country Club. The
The sixth-place finish was a career-best and is his first career top ten finish. His 54-hole score of 207 was also a career-low.
The Golden Eagles shot a final round 289 to finish eight-over par in seventh-place.
Sophomore Kevin Brady, playing as an individual, also earned his first career top ten finish, as he closed with a 72 to finish three-under par. His 54-hole score of 210 was also a career-high.
Freshman Casey Fernandez, playing in his first career tournament, closed with a 73 to finish in a tie for 37th-place at four-over par. Senior Nick Brown tied for 41st-place at five-over par after shooting a final round 75.
Senior Derek Plucienski shot a 72 to finish eight-over par in a tie for 53rd-place. Senior John Kahlden finished in a tie for 57th-place at nine-over par with a final round 72. Sophomore Trent Hillis closed at 11-over par in a tie for 64th-place. Freshmen Matt McKagen (T71) and Drew Kirby (T74) rounded out play for the Golden Eagles.
UAB had a record setting day to win its second Sam Hall Intercollegiate. The Blazers shot a final round 273, which is the second lowest round in tournament history. Their 54-hole score of 836 was also a tournament record.
UAB's Jason Shufflebottham and South Alabama's Blake Kelley shared medalist honors at nine-under par, two shots ahead of Memphis' Cory Gaylord and Andrew Noto of Louisiana-Lafayette.
