Baseball Trio Named 1st Team Academic All-District

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Three Southern Miss baseball players, seniors Todd McInnis (Brandon, Miss.), Adam Doleac (Hattiesburg, Miss.), and Marc Bourgeois (Granby, Qbc.), were all named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI first team in a release by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Friday morning.
McInnis, who currently is in his first year of graduate school, compiled a 3.64 grade point average in Management during his undergraduate portion of his studies while at the University. On the field, right-handed pitcher has posted a 6-1 record with a 3.03 earned run average to go along with a team-best 64 strikeouts this season. He is the school's all-time leader in victories with 31. McInnis earned a second-team all-district accolade during his redshirt freshman campaign in 2008.
Doleac, who graduated in December and taking classes this spring, finished his degree by posting a 3.34 grade point average in Management. During his final season with the Golden Eagles, Doleac has posted a .338 batting average at first base along with 12 doubles, a home run and 34 runs batted in. In addition, Doleac earned the C-USA Hitter of the Week award once.
Bourgeois, who has played both in the outfield and at the designated hitter spot, holds a 3.82 grade point average in Construction Engineering. His on-field exploits has been just as solid as he has posted a .370 batting average with 10 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 31 RBI. He also captured one C-USA Hitter of the Week award this season.
All three student-athletes will be put on the national ballot for potential All-America honors to be announced later this month. The last Southern Miss Academic All-American was James Ewing, who garnered second team infield honors in 2009.
