Men's Tennis Downed 4-3 by East Carolina

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to East Carolina at the USM Tennis Courts, Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates swept the Eagles in doubles play, getting the early 1-0 lead. At number one Jan Burmeister and Julien Roussel lost 8-6 to Jaroslav Horvath and Joran Vliegen. At number two Paulo Alvarado and Jovan Zelikovic fell 8-4 to Stian Tvedt and Henrik Skalmerud. At the three, ECU earned the win as the Eagles did not have a full roster.
In singles action Southern Miss was able to take three matches from the Pirates. At number one Roussel downed Horvath in a hard found match 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10) and at number three Alvarado defeated Massimo Mannino 6-3, 6-2. In the four spot Zeljkovic topped Tvedt 6-4, 6-1.
Burmeister was defeated by Vliegen 6-0, 6-0 on court two. ECU wrapped up its scoring with John Schmitt knocking off Michael Sims 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth position.
All four teams will wrap up play on Sunday with UAB and East Carolina at 10 a.m., and concluding with Southern Miss and Tulane at 2 p.m.
