Women's Golf in Second Place at Lady Eagle Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team is in second-place heading into the final round of the Lady Eagle Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,143-yard Hattiesburg Country Club.
The Lady Eagles shot a 10-over par 298, two shots back of Memphis (+8). Troy is in third-place at 14-over par.
Southern Miss had three golfers in the top ten. Freshmen Brandi Rodriguez and Kelsey Gibson are both tied for third after shooting a one-over par 73. For Gibson, it is her best round of the season. Sophomore Vicky Correa, playing as an individual, shot a two-over par 74 to tie for ninth.
Senior Virginia Espejo is tied for 11th-place after carding a three-over 75. Junior Sandra Sohlberg is tied for 14th-place at five-over par after shooting a 77.
Redshirt freshman Lauren Judson is tied for 22nd-place after an at eight-over par 80. Junior Meredith Haro closes out the scoring for Southern Miss with an 85 to tie for 35th-place.
Marissa Steen of Memphis leads the individual competition at one-under par, as she was the only golfer to shoot under par. Belmont's Janet Steen shot an even par 72 to sit in second-place. Rodriguez and Gibson are in a six-way tie for third at one-over, along with Memphis' Kathleen Glavin and Ashley Kees and Troy's Sofia Bjorkman and Signy Arnorsdottir.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
