Vollmuth Named C-USA Hitter of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss junior shortstop B.A. Vollmuth earned Conference USA Hitter of the Week in an announcement by the league on Monday.
Vollmuth belted three home runs in the Golden Eagles' sweep of Missouri State, including two in the series opener and a three-run blast in Saturday's contest. He now leads the team with five round-trippers for the season.
Five of Vollmuth's six hits during the series were for extra bases as his slugging percentage for the week was 1.214. He drove in at least two runs in all three games, finishing the weekend with eight RBI. Vollmuth had multiple hits in each contest, added five runs scored and also walked once.
The Biloxi, Miss., native ranks first in Conference USA in home runs and is tied for first in runs batted in with 19. Vollmuth is batting .333 for the season and is one of eight Golden Eagles hitting over .300 this season.
This is the second time in his career that Vollmuth has captured this award and it was the first weekly award for the Golden Eagles in 2011.
Marshall senior righthander Arik Sikula and Tulane senior righthander Conrad Flynn were named the C-USA Co-Pitchers of the Week.
