Lady Eagle Golfers to Participate in Administaff Lady Jaguar Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team plays its second tournament of the spring season this Sunday-Monday, Mar. 13-14, when it travels to Augusta, Ga., for the Administaff Lady Jaguar Invitational, hosted by Augusta State and played at the par-72 Forest Hills Country Club.
This is the second straight year that the Lady Eagles will participate in the tournament. Last year, they finished in seventh place.
The tournament is headlined by nine teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 100. Purdue enters the tournament ranked seventh in the country. No. 41 Coastal Carolina joins them in the top 50. Host Augusta State is ranked 52nd, Arkansas-Little Rock is 58th and UT-San Antonio is 65th. Western Carolina (No. 77), Princeton (No. 79), Memphis (No. 84) and Middle Tennessee State (No. 91) are also in the top 100.
Southern Miss is joined by Charleston Southern, Lamar, SMU, UAB, William & Mary, Wofford and Xavier to round out the field.
Southern Miss is coming off a second-place finish at the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational. Sophomore Vicky Correa, junior Sandra Sohlberg and senior Virginia Espejo each picked up top 10 finishes. Correa finished tied for fourth-place, while Sohlberg tied for sixth and Espejo tied for 10th.
Freshman Brandi Rodriguez leads Southern Miss with a 76.3 stroke average over 10 rounds. She has earned three top 20 finishes.
The tournament begins Sunday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The teams will play 36 holes on Sunday, followed by the final 18 on Monday.
