Golden Eagle Netters Fall at South Alabama, 7-0

MOBILE, Ala. - The Southern Miss men's tennis dropped a 7-0 match to South Alabama at the Nobel Tennis Center Wednesday, falling to 1-6 on the year.
South Alabama took the lead 1-0 after sweeping all three matches in the doubles. USA's Parker Allen and Alexandre Bernard defeated Michael Sims and Alex Doleac 8-0 at No. 3. At No. 2 doubles, Paulo Alvarado and Jovan Zeljkovic dropped their match to Hanno Bartsch and Dauw Kruger (USA), 8-4, as the Jaguars clinched. Jan Burmeister and Julien Roussel game the No. 36-ranked team of Lucas Viel and Romain Bocaert (USA) a battle at No. 1 before losing, 8-5.
The Jaguars took the momentum into the singles as Viel picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Zeljkovic at No. 1 singles and then Allen knocked off Stewart Gammill in the six spot, 6-0, 6-1, to put South Alabama up, 3-0.
USA clinched the match with a win at two singles', when Bocaert defeated Roussel in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Doleca lost his match at No. 5 to Bartsch, 6-2, 6-1. Alvarado fought back from a set down to force a supper tie-breaker, but came up short with a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) loss to Kruger. Burmeister battled Bernard at the No. 3 spot, winning the first set, 6-3, before losing the second set tie-breaker, 7-6 (7-5) then dropped the super tie-breaker (11-9).
Southern Miss travels to Auburn on Feb. 11 for a 1:30 match.
