Women's Golf Signs Two During Early Signing Period

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss women's golf coach Julie Gallup announced the signings of Jennifer Nguyen (Slidell, La.) and Kaylee Random (Alpharetta, Ga.) to national letters-of-intent for the 2012-13 season, Monday afternoon.
Nguyen played her high school golf at Salmen High School. Nguyen is a three-time Top Ten finisher at the Division I Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Tournament, including third-place finishes in 2009 and 2011. She earned second and third-place finishes at the 2010 and 2011 Division I Region III Tournaments, respectively.
Earlier this year, Nguyen earned medalist honors and led Salmen HS to first-place finishes at the North Lake Golf League's Money Hill and Covington events. She finished second-place in the 2011 Kelly Gibson Louisiana High School Girls Golf Classic, and in 2009, she earned medalist honors at the BC Cup Invitational. Nguyen was the recipient of the 2011 New Orleans Golf Association's Tommy Moore Scholarship.
Random has spent the last two years at Daytona State College, where she helped the Falcons to the 2010 National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship. In the 2011 Fall Season, she has two top 20 finishes. Earlier this year, she won the Georgia Women's Golf Association's Doak Cup, awarded to the club with the two players with the lowest aggregate qualifying scores at the Georgia Women's Amateur Championship. She also represented Georgia in the 2011 Georgia-Florida Women's Team Matches.
Random earned a fifth-place finish at the 2009 Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's Orchard Hills Junior Classic. She also earned six top five finishes on the 2009-10 All-American Junior Golf Tour, including two medalist honors.
