Women's Golf Opens Season at Cincinnati Fall Classic

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team opens the 2010-11 fall season in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Cincinnati Fall Classic, played at par-y2, 6,136 yard Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio.
Competing with Southern Miss in the season-opening event will be Akron, Austin Peay, host Cincinnati, Evansville, Florida International, Marshall, Memphis, Morehead State, Murray State, Ohio, Penn State, Robert Morris, Toledo, and UT-Pan American.
Golfers will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday with pairings each day following a shotgun format.
This is the third time in the last four years that Southern Miss will participate in the Cincinnati Fall Classic. Last year, the Lady Eagles finished in third-place, its best finish of the year. Senior Virginia Espejo set a Southern Miss record when she fired a final round 69 to help her finish in third-place.
The Lady Eagles are led by Espejo and sophomore Vicky Correa. Also returning for the Black and Gold is Sandra Sohlberg.
Newcomers for Southern Miss include Kelsey Gibson and Brandi Rodriguez.
Head coach Julie Gallup enters her 11th year as the leader of the Lady Eagles.
