Cross Country Team Finishes Seventh at Crimson Classic Invitational

TUSACLOOSA, Ala. - Southern Miss women's cross country team placed two runners in the top 25 of the Crimson Classic Invitational Saturday in helping the Golden Eagles finish seventh among 19 teams.
Sophomore Stephanie Ledgerwood was the top finisher for Southern Miss, finishing 16 overall and covering the 5K course in a time of 18:10.50. Senior Zuna Portillo was 24th with a time of 18:25.80 followed by Krista Moylan (44) with a time of 19:12.50, Jocelyn Lockhart (49) ran a time of 19:24.80, Kara Moylan (54) recorded a time of 19:36.80. Freshman Brittany Ware (86) ran a time of 21:37.00.
Texas A&M won the team title with 53 points just ahead of Alabama with 57 points. Rounding out the top 10 team finishes included Samford with 111 points, Auburn 130 points, Tuland 157, Ole Miss 185, Southern Miss 187, Nicholls State 188, Kennesaw State 240 and Columbus State 264.
Southern Miss will compete in the Gulf Coast Stampede in the Pensacola, Fla., Sept. 25.
