Women’s Cross Country Finishes 10th at 38th Annual Chile Pepper Festival

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Aiden Harrand collected the top finish for Southern Miss in the 38th annual Chile Pepper Festival Saturday morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with a 15th-place showing.
Harrand collected a time of 16:55.7 in the 5-kilometer race to help the Golden Eagles finish 10th overall in the 28-team field with 263 points.
Addison Rainey placed 39th overall with a 17:32.2, followed by Corinne Croy, who tallied a 17:41.2 for a 49th-place showing.
Lexi Cooper added a 17:59.6 to collect 71st-place, with Indy Grajelez registered a 18:30.3 to come in 112th place to round out the scoring for Southern Miss.
Host Arkansas captured the team title with 69 points, followed by Mississippi State (83), Tulsa (89), UT Arlington (178), East Central, Okla. (187), Texas (197), Missouri State (199), Baylor (202), North Texas (240) and the Golden Eagles rounding out the top 10. The field featured 249 runners that finished the event.
Southern Miss returns to action when they travel to the Crimson Tide Classic, Friday, Oct. 16.
