HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Former Southern Miss basketball player Pauline Love has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Europe with the Cob Calais team located in Calais, France.
"I am excited but nervous about going so far away to play basketball." Love said. "This is a dream come true and I hope to take full advantage of this opportunity. This is a way for me to get some experience and work my way into the WNBA one day."
Love earned an invitation to the Connecticut Sun training camp last April and played in three exhibition games before being waived.
Love completed her career this past season with the Lady Eagles, where she tallied averages of 18.3 points and 12.8 rebounds per contest during final campaign. Her rebound average ranked No. 2 nationally in Division I, while she was the No. 33 scorer in the nation. She also tallied 21 double-doubles during the year which allowed her to rank No.2 in that category.
During her time with the program, she was a three-time, first-team All-Conference USA performer as well as a three-time finalist for the Gillom Trophy, which recognizes the top women's collegiate basketball player in the state of Mississippi.
The Lady Eagles went to the postseason once during her tenure, in which they reached the round of 16 in the WNIT. She finished in the top 10 on the school charts in nine different categories, including second in rebounding average (11.1), third in rebounds (1,051), fourth in scoring average (16.6) and sixth in points scored (1,576).
Love received her degree in May.
