Apyan Earns Fourth-Place Finish at Louisiana Classics

Lafayette, La. - Redshirt senior Paul Apyan shot an even par 72 to finish in a tie for fourth-place at the Louisiana Classics. The tournament was played at the par 72, 7,141-yard Oakbourne Country Club and was hosted by the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Apyan's finish helped Southern Miss finish in a tie for eighth. The Golden Eagles closed the tournament 22-over par and tied with New Orleans.
Senior Wes Carter tied for 28th-place after firing a one-over 73 to finish six-over par. Redshirt sophomore Nick Brown also shot a 73 to finish seven-over in a tie for 35th-place.
Junior Tyler Hillis finished 14-over par in a tie for 62nd-place. Redshirt sophomore Derek Plucienski and senior Alex Park, playing as an individual, tied for 66th-place at 15-over par.
LSU won the team tournament title, finishing at even-par. Illinois took second place, while Tulsa finished third.
LSU's Andrew Loupe won the individual competition at eighth-under par. Illinois' Scott Langley finished one shot back at seven-under par.
Southern Miss returns to the links next week when it travels to Orlando, Fla. for the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate, hosted by UCF on March 15-16.
