HATTEIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior women's basketball player Pauline Love was selected Conference USA Co-Player of the Week.
Love averaged 18.0 points and 13.0 rebounds as Southern Miss won both of its games last week, defeating Houston 77-68 and Rice 68-60 as the Lady Eagles ran their streak to five straight home victories.
She did most of her damage down the stretch against Houston after spending most of her time on the bench in the opening half in foul trouble. Love rallied in the second half against USH with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the triumph.
Against Rice two days later, Love notched 21 points and 15 rebounds in the victory. She now needs just three more boards to become only the fourth Lady Eagle to reach the 1,000 plateau
Love now has 17 double-doubles on the year and 56 for her career. She currently has a streak of three double-double contests and 10 over the last 11 games.
Roshaunda Barnes of Tulane shared the award with Love. Olivia Grayson of Tulane collected the Freshman of the Week award.
The Lady Eagles return to action this Thursday when they travel to Tulsa for a 7 p.m., contest. The TU contest will be the first of two consecutive road games for Southern Miss.
